Dr. Cynthia Briglin-Mavady
Dr. Briglin-Mavady is a General Ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and comprehensive eye care.
In addition to her private practice, she is also a clinical instructor in the department of Ophthalmology at
SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY and the Syracuse Veteran's Administration Hospital helping to train the next generation of Ophthalmologists.
She is board certified in Ophthalmology (with recent recertification in December 2017) and actively participates in the maintenance of certification (MOC) process.
In her field, society memberships include the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, NY State Ophthalmologic Society, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. She is active in the Chenango County Medical Society, holding numerous leadership positions including President of the Medical Society. At both UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY and Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, NY she has served as Chief of Surgery. In addition, at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital she has held the position of President of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Briglin-Mavady grew up in Earlville, NY and attended Sherburne-Earlville Central School. She graduated from Colby College, Waterville, Maine Magna Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY with research distinction. She conducted research on pseudoexfoliation glaucoma with the esteemed Dr. Barbara Streeten. After medical school, she interned at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY and then completed her three year residency training at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY specializing in the medical and surgical care of the eye.
